Texas LotteryAfter our previous story of a generous natured lottery winner, it is now sad to tell of a $1m lottery win that has been stolen in Texas.  The story of the 67 year old lottery winner who has had his $1m lottery win stolen by a dishonest convenience store worker at the Lucky Food Store is being told all around the world. Clearly the Lucky Food store is quite an ironic name for the scene of such a dismal crime, lucky for Pankaj Joshi the man accused of the theft but certainly not so lucky for the victim Willis Willis.

Mr Willis lost his $1m lottery win when he handed his lottery ticket to Mr Joshi to check if the ticket was a winner or not, the accused man then advised Mr Willis that he had in fact won $2 which he promptly paid to the Grand Prairie resident.  On further investigation Mr Willis found that his ticket had in fact been a $1m winning lottery ticket and so contacted the Texas Lottery Commission to advise them of the incorrect payment of his lottery win.  When the Texas Lottery investigators arrived at the convenience store they found that Mr Joshi had cashed in the winning lottery ticket and had disappeared to his native Nepal.  The investigators have managed to recover $365,000 of the missing lottery win from Mr Joshi’s bank accounts but the remainder is still unfound as is Mr Joshi himself.

One unkind lottery spokesperson has been reported as saying of Mr Willis’ deception by Joshi that they feel that they might as well pay the recovered money to an internet fraudster to cut out the middleman.  There is a $10m bond on Mr Joshi’s head at the moment and if he is found then he could face up to 20 years in prison for lottery prize fraud.
