You can’t beat the thrill of playing the UK lottery. And now, it has become even easier to play the game with a new Lotto iPhone application.

Buying a national lottery scratch card is all about the thrill of the moment. Most of us hand over our £2 for the excitement of scratching off those panels in the vague hope that in two seconds’ time, we may turn into millionaires.

A recent email advertising campaign for the National Lottery has been banned by the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) after a complaint from a member of the public.  The advert was sent out to existing National Lottery account holders, and was a light hearted attempt to get the many lottery players who hold accounts to purchase their usual National Lottery tickets online. The humorous email contained many possible excuses for not taking the opportunity to purchase lottery tickets online, such as being abducted by aliens.  There was even an excuse generator link included in the email which came up with excuses like "I’m sorry I’m late for work.  I was practising my lassoing and I got a bit tied up".

It is always worth rooting out those old lottery tickets which you have forgotten about and checking to see if they are a winner, as there are hundreds of thousands of pounds even millions which go unclaimed every year.

The midweek lottery was won last week (26 August) by three very lucky tickets which matched all six of the lottery numbers.  The jackpot was worth nearly £7 million so each of the winners will receive £2.2 million pounds each. The winners who have yet to be named were also joined on their winning streak by 35 players who matched five balls plus the bonus ball to net them a tidy £18,000 each.  Just imagine what you could buy with that?

Dorothy McDonagh purchased her National lottery Daily Play ticket as usual at the her local Co-op, and when she saw the National Lottery winning numbers was overjoyed to find that she had won the jackpot of £30,000.  Little did she know at that stage that receiving her National Lottery win was going to be more problematic than she had first thought. Dorothy had unfortunately dropped her winning Lotto ticket in the Co-op and unfortunately someone else had picked up the ticket and then went on to make the winning National lottery claim themselves.

Most people who had won a massive lottery win of €147,900,000 (the equivalent of £128m) on the SuperEnalotto would be jumping for joy, opening the champagne, possibly purchasing a flashy new sports car and looking to purchase a €1m new home to live in.  However if you live in Italy in a small Tuscan village called Bagnone with the Italian Mafia as close neighbours then maybe its wise to try to keep the news of a big SuperEnalotto lottery win under your hat and more advisedly keep a low profile.

The National Lottery awards are the annual event which sees the country trawled for the UK’s favourite lottery funded project.  It is a sure fire way to award projects which vary considerably in size that have been funded by National Lottery money.  Projects are located across the country in communities and various groups in hundreds of towns and countries.

We all dream of hearing those words; ‘We’ve won the lottery!’
