Big Lottery Grant to help struggling families

A brand new venture which aims to help struggling families in hard-up areas of Burton to survive the credit crunch has been granted funding from the National Lottery.

Charity Relate in East Staffordshire will receive a Big Lottery Grant of £265,000 which will help to fund its Positive Progressions Project.

The aim of the charity is to help to build up stronger communities and to help improve standards of living where it is most needed.

The Positive Progressions Project endeavours to support members of society whose lives have been touched by issues such as domestic violence, mental health problems, family breakdown, debt and poverty.

The project is directed at disadvantaged areas in around East Staffordshire and provides a free of charge financial and life counselling services to those on low earnings.

Tina LeFevre, Centre Manager for East Staffordshire relate said:-

"We are delighted to have been awarded the grant from the Big Lottery Fund, particularly at a time when East Staffordshire is seeing large numbers of redundancies.

Modern life poses many issues for couples today.

The Big Lottery funding will enable Relate East Staffordshire to support families through difficult times at home, whatever their financial situation.

Relate is the expert in helping couples and families to enjoy happier, healthier relationships."
