The missing lottery winner from 6th June 2009 has been found this week, in Norwich. The lucky jackpot winner is a wonderful £1.9 million better off after they eventually claimed their prize this week.

Last week there were calls for the winner, who had successfully selected six winning lottery numbers in the 6th June 2009 lotto draw, to come forward. Reporters from the local Norwich paper, the Evening News, walked the town streets wearing sandwich boards in an attempt to locate the winner and local retailers pushed lottery players to double check their numbers.

The prize of £1,885,518 has now been confirmed by Camelot and the winner has chosen to remain anonymous.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery explained that winners need to opt in to taking part in publicity and if they decide against then no information can be released about the winner.

He went on to say:

”We're delighted that the winner of this prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win. It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-enhancing amount of money. We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”
