Nebraska Lottery has been causing a stir and raising a few eyebrows this week following the two Pick 3 games which have resulted consecutively with exactly the same lottery numbers coming up even though they were picked at random.

On the first occasion there was only one winner, however, the winning lottery numbers were repeated again the next draw and this time there were 3 winners – maybe this tells us how some people play their lottery numbers.

During Monday 19th January 2009 lottery results for the Pick 3 were in this order: 1, 9 and 6.

During Tuesday 20th January 2009, the winning lottery numbers were in this order: 1, 9 and 6.

The Nebraska Lottery officials have said that the chance of that happening was one in a million.

The lottery game takes place once a day except for Sundays, players are asked to choose three lottery numbers, each of the numbers must be from 0 to 9. Top prize is $600 and is awarded to any player that matches all their three lottery numbers in the right order as they are drawn. The odds for this game are 1 in 1,000.

Pick 3 lottery numbers are generated by computer completely by random so some people may be thinking that there was an error with the generator for the lottery numbers which could have been responsible for consecutive repeated results. However, Nebraska Lottery has confirmed that this isn’t the case and the lottery numbers were generated correctly from two difference computers.
