Do you choose the same lottery numbers every week?

People develop their own ways of playing the lottery and many of them have what they call their lucky or ideal numbers, often in the same combination that they use every week. Many keen lottery players feel that if they stick with their ideal numbers long enough there has to come a time when their numbers come up and they win the lottery. Some canny entrepreneurs have already jumped on the bandwagon and developed number generators based on probability and the most regularly appearing numbers in the game. Some people are actually obsessed by numbers and it would seem that the penchant for ideal lottery numbers is just an extension of this almost superstitious way of looking at the world. Although regular lottery players may have a range of methods that they use for trying to guess what the numbers will be on any given week, there are still those died in the wool players who are convinced that their numbers will get them there one day.

Many people’s ideal numbers consist of dates and events that have been significant in their lives. For example a person might choose the year that each of their three children were born as their ideal and therefore potential winning numbers. How often people who win the lottery have done so by using their ideal numbers is not clear, but enough people think that there is enough potential in this strategy to carry on using it.
