Not everyone plays the lottery every single week, but when there is a rollover, you are sure to see a sudden increase in the number of people taking a chance. Rollovers are always exciting in the National Lottery because there is much more money to be won. So this week was extra special as it was the first double rollover we have seen since March. There was a whopping £12.8 million jackpot – but not for long! The jackpot wasn’t estimated to be as high as it was. But because of the double rollover, more people bought tickets and this pushed the jackpot up by almost a million pounds over what was estimated. This is what makes rollover weeks so exciting and it wasn’t just these lucky four who felt the buzz of winning some cash. In fact there was over £24 million paid out in prizes with 711 players matching five balls without the bonus ball, winning £1,477 each. It’s not often that the jackpot reaches these dizzy heights and causes so many winners but next Friday looks to be almost as exciting with £90 million being up for grabs in the Euromillions lottery draw. |
