A new Euro Lottery record was made on Friday the 8th of May 2009, when a lucky lotto ticket that apparently had been purchased in Spain paid out over £113 million for one single ticket in the Euromillions game. It was heard that the lucky lotto ticket matched 5 of the main lottery numbers and both of the lucky star numbers, which has made this winner the largest ever lottery prize winner. Although larger cash prizes have previously been paid out in the Euromillions lottery jackpots, there has never been this much paid out to a single ticket holder. This large win has now boosted sales of the Euromillions lotto tickets and people are now hoping that they can be the next person with the lucky lottery numbers. The biggest cash prize in the world to be paid out for a single lotto ticket, prior to this win, was worth £81 and this worthy amount was won by a fellow lottery player in Italy in October 2008. The recent win of approximately £113 million was so large due to six Euro lottery rollovers. There have been numerous double rollovers and triple rollovers, but it is very rare to see the jackpot rollover 6 times in a row. |
