A couple of weeks ago a regional newspaper launched a search to find a local resident who had won more that £50,000 on the Euromillions draw of Friday 9th January.

The St Albans and Harpenden Review urged residents of St Albans and Watford area to check their Euromillions draw ticket after it was revealed that a ticket purchased in the area had matched the five main numbers drawn.

They confirmed that the winning numbers for that particular draw were 7, 15, 22, 28, 48, with numbers 1 and 4 drawn as the lucky stars and asked the owner of ticket to call the National Lottery Line without delay.

The National Lottery has now confirmed that since the appeal to find the winner was launched, the ticket holder has come forward and claimed their prize of £50,655.

A representative for the National Lottery commented:-

"We’re delighted that the winner of this prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win.

It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-enhancing amount of money. We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”

The lucky Euromillions winner has yet to go through the official validation process, and will have to give their consent for their details to be made public before any further information is released.
