A church in Wensleydale has been donated funding from the National Lottery to help start a new heritage scheme. The National Lottery’s awards for All scheme has donated the money to Aysgarth Church. The amount donated by the National Lottery is £4,050. The money donated by the National Lottery will be spent on hosting an event, which is to be held in July 2009 and will include a church yard party, guided walks, graveyard tours and help with family history research. It is also said there will be a photographic display of people of interest that have been buried in the churchyard within the church grounds. A spokesperson, Sue Whitehouse, from the heritage scheme has commented on this grant from the National Lottery and said: "We are very grateful for the grant from Awards for all. This will enable us to provide an opportunity for local people and visitors to participate in and enjoy the fascinating heritage of Aysgarth church and this area."This free event held at the church will open at 10 am until 5 pm on Saturday the 11th of July and also on Sunday the 12th of July from 1 pm until 5 pm. |
