The Big Lottery Fund will provide £800,000 to allow 1,100 war veterans to return to places where they fought over 60 years ago.

This scheme is one of hundreds which your weekly lottery spend goes towards. People all over the country a reaping the benefits of the Big Lottery Fund and this latest scheme is one of the most worthy causes yet as it will also help to educate younger people on how veterans served their country and what their experiences were.

Peter Wanless, the Big Lottery Fund’s chief executive said: ‘The generation of men and women who served this country during the Second World War gave so much to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.’

This new scheme is just a small way of showing how grateful we, as a country are, for all of their sacrifices. So next time you are picking those lottery numbers, you can be sure that your money will be put to a good cause by allowing these veterans to return to the significant places in their lives.
