Did you know that the whole of the UK is covered with National Lottery Funded projects? It seems the average person living in the UK only lives within a few miles of a lottery funded project. So just what sort of projects does the National Lottery Like to fund? Anything and everything it seems. In Derbyshire the National Lottery has funded an East Midlands drama Project, names Tangere Arts, which promotes cultural diversity and explores vital social issues. Up in the Scottish Borders the National Lottery has funded Tweed Rivers Heritage Project, an ambitious project that will affect heritage, education, employment and recreation across the Tweed Valley, Scottish Borders and Northumberland regions. The project has received a massive National Lottery cash injection of £4 million; this money will help bring together 40 sub projects that constitute the Tweed Heritage Project, covering 5,000 square kilometres of land. Biking, habitat restoration and improved access to archaeological remains at Melrose. There will also be a cross-border education programme focusing on the river and a project aimed at key viewing points and historic sites along the Tweed. Keep an eye out in the news for more projects the National Lottery supports, as they help thousands of projects up and down the country, and without knowing it you too could be reaping the benefit of the National Lottery. |
