One player of the UK's national lottery game might be about to miss out on a potentially huge prize after losing their tickets.

Staff at the Corus Steelworks in Scunthorpe has found three tickets for the national lottery game, each playing a large number of lines.

It is believed that the tickets could be the property of a lotto syndicate, so potentially the owner may not just lose their own winnings.

Local police have not yet disclosed exactly how many lines have been played on each of the three tickets in the hopes that this will reduce the likelihood of a dishonest claim to them.

The draw for which the tickets were played has not yet taken place and so for safekeeping they are being kept under lock and key at Scunthorpe Police Station on Corporation Road, Scunthorpe until the owner can be found.

Scunthorpe Police have launched a local TV appeal in an attempt to find the rightful owner of the tickets before the draw takes place.

They have asked the owner to contact the Police Property Office on 01724 274 133, giving precise details of the draw date.
