Lottery winners help Welsh school

When you win a life changing sum on the Lotto, you don’t really have to work again. Many people choose to live the life of luxury and party long and hard, some however choose to remain in their jobs and keep working. Some, such as Crumlin based Pearl and John Ackerman, choose to help charitable organisations and give something back to society.

The Gwent Cardiff based Lottery winners scooped £5.5 million between them in 2006, sharing the jackpot (a staggering £11.5 million) with two of their friends.

Last week the couple helped their local school as they joined together with some other Welsh millionaires (all thanks to playing the Lottery) to help fix up a play area for children. The Lotto winners met up as part of the “community winners' volunteering day” organised by Camelot.

The Welsh Lotto millionaires got together to work on the play area, weeding the ground, painting the flower beds and play equipment and fixing the fence.

Being a multi-millionaire certainly hasn’t changed the couple, as Mrs Ackerman also does volunteer work at a residential home.

She said about the winners; volunteering day:

It's a good cause and we like to do a lot for charity. It's been lovely today.
