Proving that really anyone can be lucky and win the lottery, a jailed sex offender who won £7 million in 2004 is now hoping to invest in artwork to win the Turner Prize for art!

It’s one of those ‘you couldn’t make it up’ stories as the convicted serial rapist won the Lotto jackpot while on day release from prison.

Iorworth Hoare, from Newcastle, was a serial sex attacker serving a prison sentence for rape. While on a day release, he purchased a lottery ticket that landed him the £7 million jackpot in 2004. As he was still in prison, he was unable to spend his winnings, so his £7 million jackpot has now grown to £10 due to his interest.

Hoare has a love of art and just invested £90,000 of his £10 million on a series of 19 paintings from an unknown artist, which he will enter for the Turner prize. If the artist wins the Turner Prize, the value of the paintings will soar, earning Iorworth Hoare even more money.

A news source has stated:

Hoare sees it as a means of making more money while indulging in one of his passions.
