Are lottery syndicates a good thing? Or is it safer to go solo when purchasing your lottery tickets? It seems those who do play the Lotto would be well advised to take immediate legal advice before joining a syndicate. It seems that in some cases there is nothing more certain than a good stroke of fortune to turn two Irish people against each other. Just recently the Supreme Court ruled that a man residing in Mayo was not entitled to a fifth of the 2 million Euros won by a lottery syndicate in Mayo. And why was this? It seemed that the syndicate member’s problem was that he had fallen into arrears with weekly syndicate payments and had in actual fact paid zero towards the winning ticket. The Supreme Court held that a person seeking to share in a syndicate when he has not paid up his share travels a hard road. In other words, only those who pay should benefit. And the moral of the story? Friends should be for socialising, Christmas, birthdays nights out, afternoon tea. They say never mix business and pleasure and with regards to the lottery, play it safe, buy your own ticket to play online Lotto. |
