A doting Dad who pledged to buy his eldest son his own toyshop if he ever won the jackpot on the national lottery was forced to eat his words when he won an incredible £1million. Winner Mark Myatt from Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire and Trina his wife, opted to take both of their sons, eight year old Alexander and three year old Oliver, shopping for toys instead. Thirty-nine year old Builder, Mark who claimed his million pound share of the New Year’s Eve lottery draw by matching six numbers said recently:- "I had always promised my eldest son that I would buy him a toy shop of his own if we ever won the Lottery. I did have to do a bit of backtracking this weekend although he has still done very well. He now has the Lego Star Wars Death Star set worth £300. Oliver chose a huge Thomas the Tank Engine train set - you can't move for toys in our house at the moment." The Myatts and their children were playing Who Wants to Be a Millionaire at a friend's house when the national lottery draw took place and they didn’t even realise that they had won the jackpot until they checked the winning numbers when they met up with other family members the following day. Trina Myatt said that she had initially believed that they had matched either four or five of the winning numbers and hoped for enough of a windfall to be able to take her family on a short trip to Euro Disney. She said:- "I did wonder whether we might have matched a sixth number but really wasn't sure so I drove back home to double-check. When I saw we had all six numbers I was just gob-smacked."
