A waitress who recently spent her last £5 on a UK lottery ‘Merry Millions’ scratch card was hugely rewarded for the daring gamble by winning the top prize worth £1,000,000. 41 year old Maria Murray from Bristol, who was working nine hours a week as a local café waitress, could not believe her luck just before Christmas.

Just previous to her win Maria had told her family which also included her children, aged between 17 and 21 years that they may not be getting any Christmas presents due to money being very tight, however, due to the Merry Millions National Lottery this all changed very, very quickly.

Maria plans to keep her feet firmly on the ground even though UK lottery Merry Millions has made her a millionaire and she has no plans for quitting her £50 a week café job. However, Maria is planning to buy the council house in which she has been living for the past 8 years and she also has her sights set on a “second hand Mini” which she plans to use when taking her children for a holiday this year.

There is obviously a huge gamble involved for taking the decision to play any UK lottery game with your last pennies; however, there is no denying that in this case the risk paid off.
