If you didn’t already know the National Lottery has just celebrated 15 years in existence. And, as well as the event that took place in the West midlands last weekend (which we featured in yesterday’s article) other parts of the country have been celebrating as well.

Heritage Lottery Fund and Big lottery fund support Parks for People

The heritage lottery fund (HLF) and the Big lottery fund (BLF) have given a massive boost to six of Britain’s best loved parks. They have invested a staggering sum of £18 million pounds to transform the parks and make sure they are well maintained.

The six parks that will benefit are:

•    Queens Park – Bolton
•    Stamford Park – Tameside
•    Howard Park and Gardens – Letchworth garden City
•    St James’ Park – Southampton
•    Stewart Park – Middlesbrough
•    Spinney Hill Park – Leicester

Public parks have been underfunded for years, and the cash investment by these two groups will be a welcome boost to these parks’ survival.
