We all know that lottery funding is spent on hundreds of good causes every year. So many local groups and charities are helped out by cash from the National Lottery.

But now it seems that the spotlight could be on popular tourist spot, Stonehenge.

Proposals have been put forward for a brand new £25 million visitors centre at the site.

English Heritage, who put the plans forward, hopes that lottery funding will help to complete the project and provide visitors with a more exciting experience when they go to Stonehenge.

The plans are set to receive some sort of opposition as part of the idea is to close the A334 which runs close to the site.

The visitors centre will include a place to house exhibitions, a cafe and a gift shop but it will not be visible from the stones and will have a transport system to take people between the centre and the site.

Stonehenge is one of the most popular and fascinating sites in our country, so the plans to give it a bit of a boost are sure to prove popular with most people. And if the national lottery money can help to attract more people to this fascinating site, then once again, lottery cash has been put to good use.
