National Lottery gives money to over 327 organisations

The National Lottery small grants scheme, known as Awards for All, has donated money and given out grants that total £2,034,251 to over 327 organisations, which includes; schools, charities, sports clubs, arts projects, community schemes and heritage schemes.

Amongst one of these local organisations to benefit from a National Lottery Grant was Findhorn based Moray Bio Energy Centre, who were lucky enough to be donated £9,000.

This organisation is a group that hire people to do research to help review business plans in the production of sustainable heating fuel. The donation given by the National Lottery will help cover the cost of legal advice, market research, research and development costs and architects fees.

It was heard that in November 2008 Findhorn based Moray Bio Energy Centre received a grant for £131,600 to help set up the educational and training research facilities where the production of renewable energy will be carried out. Moray Bio Energy Centre are said to use locally sourced products from forests and farms to assist them in reducing fuel poverty.

Another local organisation, Moray Voices was also lucky enough to receive a grant from the National Lottery and were given £3,100. This organisation provides a programme of community arts workshops that have qualified tutors. The money donated from the National Lottery will help cover the cost of the tutors, transport costs, publicity, equipment hire and room hire.
