There are many different types of lottery games around and scratch cards are just one way that people play the lottery on an almost daily basis. Scratch cards have been around for a very long time and actually predate the National Lottery in the UK. You can buy scratch cards in almost every supermarket, corner store and petrol station and many people will buy at least one scratch card every day of the week. In the UK the scratch card is extremely popular and it is difficult to meet a person who has never had at least one go on a scratch card.

There have been some big television promotions for different scratch card games, and you can win a sizeable amount of money on a scratch card. When you buy a scratch card there are some covered numbers and the idea is to scrape the top covering to reveal the numbers. Different scratch cards will have particular ways of matching the numbers on the card, but the general idea is to match them up.

Scratch cards seem to be a particular favourite with older people and many of them look forward to their visits to the post office where they can pick up their pension, chat with their friends, and get themselves a scratch card. For some people it is not so much the winning that counts as the actual act of buying and using the scratch card. Although the winnings are much smaller than the lottery, the odds against you winning are also much smaller when you play on a scratch card.
