A group of lucky neighbours from Inverness in Scotland were jumping for joy at the beginning of this week after they scooped nearly £600,000 in a bumper people’s lottery.

They all lived in Spring Belter’s winning postcode of IV2 7RA.

Audrey Barr, one of the lucky winners, also played with two tickets at a time and won a staggering £199,670, while her neighbours each went home with a cool £99,835.

The delighted winners are now planning how to spend their money. Many of the winners plan to pay off their mortgages. One winner, Cecelia, a 63 year old winner, is now able to help pay for her daughter’s wedding. She commented: ‘This will make a big difference to my family.’

The remaining £508,990 was shared by 279 people from IV2 7 who each won between £7,820 and £482. The contest has raised £1.7 million for Scots charities.

The subscription only game can make instant winners out of a streetful of people in just one draw. All players have to do is pay £2 a week to register their postcode in a draw. If it is selected, you and any neighbours who play will be in the money. Each ticket matching the winning postcode receives its share of £25,000. If only one ticket for the street is sold then the ticket holder takes home the lot.
