The National Lottery has just launched a new scratch card called Rich for Life with a TV campaign to promote it. The scratch card can be bought for £5.00 and players get the chance to win £40,000 per year for life! There are four winning prizes of £40,000 per game.

However unlike other lottery prizes, the £40,000 per year prize money is subject to being taxed as it is paid out to winners as an annuity policy. Regardless of tax, winners will be happy with their prize.

In general, scratch cards are not associated with a life-changing cash prizes but lotto players will be inspired by Maria Murray who won £1 million pounds after spending her last £5 on a Merry millions scratch card in December last year.

The adverts for the Rich for Life scratch card show a man wedged between two other passengers on a plane whilst he gets jostled trying to drink some water. The scratch card is scratched and lo and behold the man is transported into first class. The National Lottery’s message is simple – Rich for Life scratch cards could make life much better!

This format will sound familiar as the 2007 Rich for Life scratch card was launched in a similar way. A spokesman commented:

“We always see a fantastic response from players in-store to regular payment games. The previous version of Rich For Life was our best and fastest-selling £5 game ever – and we expect this new version to be just as popular.”
