Peter Hayward has been confirmed as the lucky winner of £250,000 after playing the National Lottery scratchcard. The scratchcard wasn’t his first choice of play and was only chosen after the local retailer was unable to give him his initial choice of card. Mr Hayward, who is thirty-six years old, wanted to play the Monopoly game as his first choice. However the plastic box containing the scratchcards was jammed, so as his second choice he picked an Aqua card instead. Peter commented: "I couldn't believe my luck. It was so lucky that the box jammed - how jammy is that?" Peter is not only a carpenter, but a father of Corey who is aged ten years old. When Peter received the news of his win he treated staff at the Co-op store based in Newbridge, Gwent to a bottle of bubbly to celebrate. Peter went on to say: "It's changed my life around completely. I'm buying a new BMW and taking my son to Florida on holiday." Mr Hayward confessed that it’s not usual for him to buy a scratchcard. The Monopoly game simply caught his eye and when the box jammed he almost walked away. Luckily he didn’t and he picked the Aqua card instead.
