Most football fans wouldn’t be too happy after seeing their team lose 5-0 to Manchester United, however winning £2.6 million on the lottery sure can help to ease the pain of defeat. Married couple Jackie and John Livesley are fanatical Stoke City supporters, and their team’s mauling at Old Trafford was quickly forgotten last month when their Lucky Dip numbers came up on the Saturday draw, 14, 17, 30, 37, 38, 41 with 49 as the bonus ball, netting them £2.6 million. The couple bought their winning Lottery ticket in the Leek branch of Morrisons. It could have been a very different story though as Jackie tried to stop her husband going shopping due to the bad weather. She’s glad he didn’t listen to her now! Jackie’s now looking forward to a holiday in the Maldives and buying a Range Rover Sport. The couple had no idea they were millionaires until the next morning when Jackie was doing the housework: I’d been cleaning the kitchen floor and needed a break. I put the kettle on for a coffee and checked Teletext. I looked, looked and looked again before shouting out for John. The money will make a big difference to the couple, who have been playing the Lottery since 1994. The received their winnings in the style that every Stoke fan would want to, at the Britannia Stadium. Jackie works for the probation service in Stoke and her husband John works in a warehouse in Cheadle. |
