The future of the lottery

We’re seeing our politicians all over the news at the moment, which can only mean one thing; election time is upon us.

And as with anything else, the lottery has been used as a tool to try to secure more votes for one of the parties.

The Tory party has decided to outline how they would change the lottery if they came into power. And it seems that there would be some drastic changes to our favourite game.

Jeremy Hunt, The Shadow Culture Secretary has said that up to £40 million of lottery money would be created by allowing the lottery to operate independently.

This money which had been saved would then be used to repair and renovate endangered historic buildings around the UK. This is bound to appeal to the British public, particularly at a local level, as the party has suggested places such as Brighton Pier and Hadrian’s Wall may benefit.

During Labour’s time in power, the party has ensured that National Lottery money has been spent on community projects and well deserving causes but Jeremy Hunt has said that the changes his party are suggesting could lead to even more money for good causes.

All will be revealed at the next general election.
