The entire country has been building up to the year 2012 ever since it was announced that London will be hosting the Olympics.

The UK is hosting the world’s greatest sporting event and the capital city has been preparing to host athletes from all over the world.

But what few people realise is that the lottery has a partnership with the London 2012 Olympics. So every time you pay for that weekly ticket, you are playing your part in this spectacular event.

The National Lottery will be contributing almost £2.2 billion towards the big event and £750 million of this will come from specially designated lottery games.
The money that is gathered from these games will be put towards some really impressive projects. These include the Olympic Stadium, a new VeloPark, Aquatics Centre, Handball Arena and the Hockey Centre.

The Olympic Games are due to take place from July 27th – August 12th. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously hosted them in 1908 and 1948.

The 2012 games promise to be a remarkable project and every lottery player can now really feel a part of it every time they pick their lottery numbers.
