The annual National Lottery Awards find the UK’s favourite Lottery funded projects and the finalists for this year’s awards have just been announced. There are 21 projects all battling it out for the public vote to win £2000 to spend on their projects. There will be seven categories all together, with each finalist competing against two other finalists in their category. The categories are as follows; Best Arts Project, Best Education Project, Best Environment Project, Beast Health Project, Best Heritage Project, Best Sports Project and Best Voluntary/Charity Project.
Lottery funded projects have a huge impact on the British public with £25million being raised every week for the causes. Local communities benefit hugely from such projects and these awards are designed to recognise all of the hard work that goes into them. Since the UK Lottery began, 15 years ago, over £22billion has been granted to projects across the United Kingdom, helping to change the lives of thousands of people. Public voting for the final ends on August 14th. The seven winners will be announced during the BBC1 programme The National Lottery; Big 7 which will be shown live on September 5th. |
