The National Lottery is having a makeover and soon the new signage and dispenser units will be making their debut at your local lottery ticket retailer. The organisers of the National Lottery are said to be spending £16.5 million on freshening up the National Lottery image with the aim of exciting lottery players to buy more tickets and as a result help more good causes. A growing trend is now to buy lottery tickets online as people find it a more convenient and safe way of taking part however, there are still enough players who buy offline to keep the 27,000 lottery retailers in business. Part of the exciting point of sale revamp will see the introduction of the National Lottery Playstation. This is not the latest games console on the market but a new place to fill out your lottery forms. The Playstation will come equipped with two play pads, an area for lottery information and super duper pens with stronger chains and long lasting ink. Retailers will be provided with special kits so that they can update their existing scratchcard dispensers. There will be new promotional materials around so look out for the new signs. The lottery organiser’s Sales Director, Duncan Maylon said: “We’ve listened to what our players and retailers wanted, and have come up with a piece of kit designed with these needs in mind. The new equipment is definitely easier to merchandise and maintain, is simple for players to use and doesn’t take up any more valuable space than the previous models. It’s also flexible in its design so will fit easily into any type of store.”
