The National Lottery has had its best year since 1998 according to a report released recently. The year to the end of March figures showed that the UK National Lottery had cashed in £5,149 million in comparison to the £4,966 million totalled last year. This is great news for the National Lottery organisers who have just started their third lottery license phase.

For the nest license phase the National Lottery has been busy upgrading lottery machines across the UK. Although choosing lottery numbers online is becoming popular, the traditional retail terminals are still a key element to the success of the National Lottery, providing access to the many Brits who do not have computers.

The upgrade also focused on enhancing the National Lottery marketing campaign by installing media screens at many retail outlets to help raise awareness and provide essential lottery information such as lottery results.

The Chief Executive, Dianne Thompson, of Camelot Group plc commented:

“This has been an incredibly busy landmark year for Camelot and The National Lottery.  I’m delighted to be able to announce that, despite the challenge of preparing for the new Licence and some significant challenges in the wider market, we have been able to deliver the best National Lottery sales performance in a decade, returning even more money to the Good Causes – helping to take the total raised to over £23 billion.”
