Two hundred millionaires in the North West have made their money from their lottery numbers coming up for them on the National Lottery.

Tommy & Jean Cone recently won £4.2 million on the Lottery.

As Tommy Cone was taking a 40 wink nap – his life changed forever.

Joan Cone, Tommy’s wife, was watching the National Lottery draw on TV she was unaware Tommy had bought a lucky dip ticket.

When the realisation had sunk in after Tommy awoke to check his numbers he slept with the winning ticket under his pillow.

Tommy, who had to retire early due to prostate cancer, had arrived a little late on the day he bought his winning ticket.

The lady who had been in front of him in the queue was also buying a lucky dip lottery ticket but she stepped aside to find her money and let him go first. Tommy gleefully explained:

If she had bought her ticket I might not have won.

The unexpected win was a truly incredible event for the married couple, although it has not changed the way that they live their lives.

Tommy said:

The only difference is that, before, I used to buy 8p beans, now we buy posher ones.

Jean added:

We've given money to our family, grandkids and great grandkids and we've done a bit for charity - children's hospices, where we take down loads of Easter eggs and toys at Christmas. They deserve it, they work hard those nurses.

Whilst the couple did move to a bungalow and Tommy 67, bought a Mercedes and driving lessons so he could learn to drive it, they have had a few problems. Tommy admitted:

I've lost a sister and I've lost a brother because of this. We gave them gifts, but how long's a piece of string? It just wasn't enough. You learn who your true friends are when something like this happens. But I still play the lottery. You can never have too much money, can you?
