Unclaimed prize gets passed to a charity

Winning the lottery is a dream that we all have from time to time. Sometimes we can get into a complete daydream about spending that cash.

But for some lucky people, this is not a dream. Lottery winners really get to splash their cash on anything they want from country mansions to fast cars and holidays abroad.

But on occasions, there are winners who seem oblivious to the fact that they have just been made much richer. And their prize money is never claimed.
This was the case for someone in Hampshire recently who failed to claim their £50,000 lottery prize. The winner bought their ticket in the Fareham area in April and the deadline for the winner to pick up their winnings was on Monday at 5:30pm.

However, the winner never came forward and so the money has been left unclaimed. The National Lottery organisers reminded people in the Fareham area to check their pockets in case they had the winning ticket, but their efforts seem to have been wasted.

Now, the £50,503 as well as the interest it has earned in the 180 days since the draw has now been passed to a charity.
