One of the problems for people who have never had a vast amount of money in their lives is that if and when they win the lottery, they are completely unsure what to do with their lottery winnings. In the UK it has been customary for whoever has organised the lottery to provide some free financial advice to the winner. This can help enormously to spend the money wisely.

A lot of the time, lottery winners choose to stay anonymous to avoid publicity and to also keep their privacy where they live. It is up to the winners whether they make their luck public.

One of the things that a financial advisor would say you should do with the bulk of your lottery winnings is to invest them, or at least put them in some kind of long term account where they are not being frittered away. It is tempting to spend your cash on small things that you don’t really need but investing is the sensible option. Once you have invested a sizeable chunk then is the time to decide what you want from life and what you can do to improve the lives of those close to you now that you have a significant amount of money.
